What is Turmeric Curcumin?

Turmeric Curcumin is a very popular Asian Ginger which is most commonly used in cooking. The spice has been used in varied curry flavored dishes. It also has been popular for its medicinal anti-inflammatory uses as they have been used since ancient Chinese times as well as in Indian cultures. Inflammation has been believed to be the cause of chronic diseases like RA, Alzheimer’s, Crohn’s disease, heart diseases, and cancer. Over 6000 clinical studies confirm that turmeric can be used instead of about 20 medications for joint pain. The studies showed that turmeric curcumin the main active ingredient in turmeric is a very effective substance which works better than aspirin and ibuprofen which act as an anti-inflammatory and anti-proliferative agents. With its high anti-inflammatory properties, it is effective to help people with joint pain caused by RA. The inflammation is significantly reduced with these anti-inflammatory markers.

Clinical Studies on Turmeric

A three month long clinical study was conducted in Italy involving 50 patients who were diagnosed with osteoarthritis. The team studied the effects of turmeric on joint pains caused by arthritis. A special formulation of turmeric was used to help body absorb it. The group was then divided into two. Half took turmeric and while the other half continued with their prescription meds.

After 3 months of taking the prescribed medication for each group, about 58% of those who took turmeric saw significantly decreased pain in their knee and reported that there was improvement in joint mobility. It concluded that turmeric has reduced both the Pain and stiffness in the affected joints.

Another research conducted in 2006 also showed that turmeric was a more effective way of preventing joint inflammation. It was also better at reducing joint inflammation compared to NSAIDS.

At the University of Arizona, a bacterial substance that caused inflammatons was injected into the bellies of the rodents by researchers and the turmeric was also injected into the abdomen.It concluded that there was significantly less joint swelling produced by the bacteria for those injected with turmeric.

  2. Warm Lemon Water with Turmeric. For a more relaxing drink. Adding a dash of turmeric into a class of warm lemon water will allow you to still get the soothing effect of the lemon water and enjoy the benefits of turmeric.
  3. Roasting Cauliflowers with Turmeric. Adding turmeric when roasting cauliflowers improves the taste of the dish and allows us to intake turmeric.
  4. Honey Mustard Chicken with Turmeric. A sweet and spicy recipe for chicken to make lunch or dinner more exciting.
  5. Turmeric Milk.  Adding turmeric to your warm or cold milk is a great way for milk lovers. Adding honey can also improve the taste and give the benefits of honey.
  6. Turmeric Tea “Liquid Gold”. Warm 1 cup of coconut milk and water in a sauce pan for 2 minutes. Stir in a tablespoon of butter, honey, and a teaspoon of turmeric ginger for another 2 minutes.
