What is Glucosamine?

Glucosamine is a naturally produced substance around the joints. It is found in animal bones, bone marrow, and even in shellfish. It assists in the repair of damaged joints. It plays an important role in building cartilage and is commonly used as a supplement for people affected by osteoarthritis. Glucosamine is harvested from shells. It comes in different forms such as glucosamine sulfate, glucosamine hydrochloride and N-acetyl-glucosamine.

A supplements are good for the health. When it comes to staying healthy, supplements are great for the body. But glucosamine should not be taken if you have allergies to shellfish. Although allergic reaction from shellfish is from meat and not the shell, precautionary measures are still to be considered when taking the supplement. It can also worsen asthma.

Recommended Dosage: A maximum dosage per day is 1500mg for people who have osteoarthritis. You can take 500mg tablet three times a day.
